AERIAL SAFETY:

PRACTICAL:
Hands-on operation of an Alumaloft, Scissor Lift and Zoom Boom.
DETAILS:
Course runs from 9:00 a.m. - approximately 4:00 p.m. depending on the number of people taking the course. Doors open at 8:30 a.m. You must stay for the whole course to receive your ticket. Course takes place at Dwight Crane, 131 Dowty Rd., Ajax. It is a ten minute walk from the Ajax Go Station. You can find a map at www. dwightcrane.ca/training.htm
Dwight Crane supplies everything you need to complete the course (except Safety Boots). Running of equipment takes place outside so dress for the weather conditions. Safety boots must be worn by all participants. Please bring your own fall arrest if you have any. A light lunch will be served and coffee will be served during the course.

DETAILS:
Where: St. John Ambulance, Toronto Admin Centre, 365 Bloor St. East, 9th Floor, Suite 900. Closest intersection is Sherbourne and Bloor. They are 2 minutes from the Sherbourne Subway Station (West of the Subway Station on the South side of Bloor St.). You must press "0900" on the Intercom System and wait for the Instructor to press the buzzer to unlock the door.
Course runs from 9:00 a.m. - approximately 5p.m.
Participants should dress in comfortable clothing and bring a pen. Participants are responsible for their own lunches. There is a one hour lunch break.
St. John Ambulance Certificates will be mailed to those who successfully complete the course. Annual retraining in CPR is recommended.

PRACTICAL PORTION:
How to Inspect a Harness/LanyardCare and Cleaning of Harness/LanyardHow to Correctly Don a HarnessPractical Testing on Ladder Inspection/UseParticipants will be hooked up by the 'D' ring of their harness, to an overhead crane (regularly inspected and maintained, lifting capacity of 4000 lbs) and lifted approximately 6" off of the ground for a few seconds. The purpose is to understandthe pressure/force a harness would exert is there were a fall and that it is in your best interest to do everything possible to avoid a fall.

PROPANE - Working Safely with Propane Heaters, Salamanders, Torches & Other Propane Powered Appliances:
INTRODUCTION:
The Ontario Propane Association will issue an ROT after this program has been successfully completed. In order to successfully complete this course you must achieve a passing grade of 75% and complete all of the "hands-on" training provided to you.
TRAINING REQUIREMENTS:
To activate, connect and disconnect propane heaters less than 400,000 BTU from piping, tubing or a container requires written evidence from, or accepted by the person's employer that the worker is knowledgeable and competent enough to activate, connect and disconnect such a heater. This course has been designed to provide the necessary knowledge and skills so that workers can safely activate, connect and disconnect propane heaters, torches and other propane-powered appliances.
